The Game Awards Nominates Hades For Game Of The Year
Yesterday the Game Awards announced its all of its nominations, and indie fans should delight and see that Supergiant’s Hades has walked away with a whopping seven nominations total, including for Game Of The Year. The yearly event hosted by Geoff Keighley is the most prestigious awards ceremony in video games. The game is nominated against Animal Crossing: New Horizons, DOOM: Eternal, Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Ghosts Of Tsushima, and The Last Of Us: Part II.
Hades is also nominated for Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score And Music, Best Action, Best Indie, and Best Performance for Logan Cunningham as the titular Hades. All are well-deserved nominations, and I’m sure that Hades will end up with at least one of these awards. I even think it’s chances for Game Of The Year are pretty strong, especially since indie sensation and meme generator Untitled Goose Game took home the top honors at this year’s DICE awards. There’s a precedent now, and given that the Game Awards are at least partially decided by fan votes, Hades has a real chance.
Elsewhere on the nominations page we have other independent games like 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Kentucky Route Zero, If Found..., Spiritfarer, Through The Darkest Of Times, Spelunky 2, Fall Guy: Ultimate Knockout, and Carrion all with at least one nomination each. It was a great year for indie titles, and it’s great to see all of these gems get the attention that they deserve.
Voting for The Game Awards is open now and the event will take on December 10th.
